Insulation Fasteners Grow in Medical and Electronic Devices

Medical devices, precision electronics and lab instruments keep raising demands for insulation, non-magnetism and chemical resistance, expanding plastic fastener use. nylon screws, plastic studs and insulating washers fix and isolate inside equipment, supporting electrical safety and EMC requirements.

As medical electronics and IVD instruments develop, insulation fasteners extend from household scenes to stricter applications with higher demands on temperature, chemistry and biocompatibility.

Medical Device Applications

Medical devices pack dense electrical parts; insulating fasteners isolate live parts from housings to reduce leakage and short risk. PCBA fixing, harness management and housing assembly in monitors, infusion pumps, ultrasound and analyzers often use pa66 or PC plastic screws.

Some medical uses require biocompatibility assessment or specific chemical resistance; choose compliant materials with supporting documentation.

Electrical Safety in Electronics

Inside power boards, controllers and sensors, plastic screws fix live parts and keep creepage distance, preventing metal screws from shorting during vibration. Insulating washers and plastic studs isolate PCBs from metal housings.

For EMC, non-metal fasteners create no magnetic interference, suiting spots near antennas, coils and sensors and helping pass EMC tests.

Non-Magnetic and Chemical Resistance

MRI environments, precision instruments and some sensors demand non-magnetic parts; plastic replaces metal to avoid magnetic interference. In chemical labs and industry, PP and peek resist solvents better than nylon for equipment touching aggressive media.

Non-magnetic 316 stainless also works, but plastic wins on cost and insulation—weigh by specific needs.

Temperature and Flame Resistance

Near heat-generating parts, higher-temperature materials like PPS and peek serve long-term hot spots. For flame retardance, some devices require UL94 V-0—achievable in nylon and PC formulations.

Choose material by temperature, flame, chemical and cost, confirming properties during prototyping to avoid deformation and aging in mass production.

Market Trend

As medical electronics, wearables and precision instruments develop, insulation fastener demand grows steadily with higher demands on material certification, batch consistency and supply stability. Suppliers with full material documentation, size customization and fast small-batch delivery enter medical and high-end electronics supply chains more easily.
