Plastic Fastener Material Selection Technical Guide: PA66/PP/POM/PEEK Comparison

The material of plastic fasteners directly determines strength, temperature resistance, insulation, corrosion resistance and service life. This article explains material properties, parameter comparison and application scenarios to provide professional reference for design and procurement.

1. PA66 Nylon (Most Common General-Purpose)

PA66 is the most widely used material with high mechanical strength, good toughness, wear resistance and insulation.

Temperature range: -40℃ to 120℃

Advantages: high strength, good toughness, easy processing, cost-effective

Disadvantages: medium water absorption, aging at high temperature

Applications: electronics, lighting, furniture, general equipment

2. PP Polypropylene (Anti-Corrosion & Acid-Alkali Resistant)

PP is lightweight with excellent chemical resistance, low water absorption and good weather resistance.

Temperature range: -20℃ to 110℃

Advantages: great corrosion resistance, lightweight, low cost

Disadvantages: lower strength, brittle at low temperature

Applications: chemical equipment, plating factories, outdoor anti-corrosion

3. POM Polyoxymethylene (High Rigidity & Wear Resistant)

POM has high rigidity, excellent wear resistance, stable dimension and low friction coefficient.

Temperature range: -50℃ to 120℃

Advantages: high rigidity, wear-resistant, stable size

Disadvantages: average weather resistance, weak UV resistance

Applications: precision machinery, sliding parts, high-load assembly

4. PEEK Polyetheretherketone (Ultra-High Performance)

PEEK is a high-performance special plastic with ultra-high temperature resistance, strength and radiation resistance.

Temperature range: -60℃ to 260℃

Advantages: ultra-high temperature resistance, high strength, long life

Disadvantages: high cost

Applications: aerospace, medical, automotive engines, high-temperature equipment

5. Installation Technical Tips

1. Use proper torque to avoid sliding or breaking

2. Choose weather-resistant materials for long-term outdoor use

3. Do not exceed temperature rating in high-temperature environments

4. Select PP, PVDF, PEEK for corrosive environments

5. Use special tools for precision assembly

6. Summary

Choose PA66 for general use, PP for corrosion resistance, POM for precision, PEEK for high temperature. Proper selection greatly improves stability, service life and safety.
